Employment in Milam County: Our unemployment rate in Milam County is now at 5.2% which is just under the overall State unemployment rate of 5.4%. This is an historic 1% drop in the number of those unemployed here.

100 YEARS AGO… December Trade Days was in the planning stages with “attractions” being the greatest yet offered. There was also a series of goat roping contests at Fair Park that afternoon.

Sell out to Jesus

There is a story about a blind guy named Bartimaeus in Mark 10. Bartimaeus is sitting on the side of the road begging and he hears that Jesus is walking by so he shouts out for Jesus to have mercy on him. Jesus stopped, restored his sight and then Bartimaeus started following Jesus.

Thou preparest a table before me...

In 2013, the iconic Norman Rockwell painting “Saying Grace” sold for $46 million dollars. “Saying Grace” originally appeared on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post’s 1951 Thanksgiving issue, and soon became one of Rockwell’s most beloved works. The painting is strikingly 1951.

County judge, commissioners, old drapes

We got new computers at The Reporter this week and I am so happy about that. Our new ones are so much faster than the old ones. We haven’t had new computers in over 10 years and we are excited about them.
