How did we end up in this situation? Blatant racism in the news every day. I’m seeing my black friends on social media and my heart cries out for them. Especially the ones with sons. America is in a bad place where racism is concerned. But how can this be?

Last Friday evening I witnessed a community of people come together during a pandemic to celebrate the graduating youth of our community. I witnessed a fine group of educational administrators work to ensure that the attendees were properly screened, distanced and that face coverings were worn.

100 YEARS AGO.... Internal Revenue Service Agent Capt. T. R. Stevic raided a Thorndale residence and found a large quantity of illegal alcohol (Prohibition had started) plus items believed related to the manufacture of alcohol.

This spring, we are highlighting our Milam County 4-H seniors graduating in 2020. We are so proud of these youth as they have worked very hard, for most of them, over 10 years in 4-H. They have competed in numerous competitions and have gained life skills they will use their entire lives.

‘Not forgotten’

There have been lots of casualties in the fight against COVID-19 but, fortunately, Memorial Day was not one of them. While observances were muted in the Rockdale area, they were personal and much appreciated. Thanks for taking time to honor heroes.
