Rockdale Christmas Roundup was another huge undertaking again this year, and Rockdale ISD provided it’s much needed support for the success of this event. As in prior years, students and staff members from all four Rockdale ISD campuses had the opportunity to volunteer or donate items and cash.

Fair enough

The Rockdale Fair has been filling up Fair Park for 44 years the third week in October and it’s going to be doing the same for the next 44 years.

With Christmas coming up I’ve been thinking of some childhood memories involving this special holiday. Gertrude Hale used to have a beautiful Christmas party every year. She put hundreds of candles all over the house and didn’t turn the lights on.

Looking back... 100 YEARS AGO.... It was a mistrial in the trial of Thorndale Thorn Editor E.L. Ramsey, charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of A. Taegel. Ramsey maintained the shooting was self-defense, that Taegel had tried to hit him with a chair before the fatal shot was fired.

Aman called the church office the other day and asked if we could help him with some gas for his car. The church secretary who handles our benevolence ministry gave him a voucher that was good for $15 down at the local fuel stop.
