10-20-40-100 YEARS AGO 100 YEARS AGO.... Nine days of continuous sunshine gave road crews a chance to work on many projects in the Rockdale area. Wagon loads of material were being delivered to the Gay Hill-Thorndale Road. Grading had begun on the Lexington Road.

Depot Museum closed temporarily for repairs The Rockdale Historical Society has announced that the I&GN Depot Museum will be closed temporarily due to some mechanical issues. The museum will reopen once these issues are resolved, according to board member Gary Jackson.

EDITORIAL There are some people you simply cannot replace, but you have to try anyway. One of those is the late Susie Sansom Piper who passed away last October at the age of 98. For 42 consecutive years Mrs. Piper wrote a Black History Month series for The Rockdale Reporter.

Dear Editor, I wanted to write this to thank the AMR ambulance service and fire department for how they responded to my emergency on Wednesday, Jan 7. When I called 911 they were at the house in minutes. The patient’s lips were turning blue and I didn’t know what else to do.

Rockdale High School softball fans get their first action of the decade when the Lady Tiger varsity and junior varsity squads face off in an inter-squad scrimmage on Thursday at the RHS softball complex. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
