Things that keep us levelheaded

I guess we really haven’t made it through yet, but I was thinking of all the things that have helped me get through this virus mess. Don’t give me any flack about this but my number one thing is cigarettes.

First COVID-19 death in Milam County

On Monday we learned of our first COVID-19 death in Milam County. This was a Milam County resident under the age of 50. This case was not related to any of the Cameron Dairy Queen cases. The person had been transported to a Temple hospital late last week and then succumbed to the virus on Monday.

100 YEARS AGO.... Gay Hill rancher Calvin Eiland was acquitted on a charge of failing to dip his cattle as per county order. Justice of the Peace Ed Gunn said 500 persons attended the trial, the largest trial crowd in his memory. Eight more cases were scheduled for trial. Sullivan Turner Jr.

Breakfast casserole and other goodies

Your little students need a good breakfast before going off to sch… the living room coffee table, so this week I have another good breakfast casserole. And it’s a magic breakfast casserole because it has eggs in it and even I can eat it.

Weird times we’re in

The Blonde and I have been going to Walmart early on Friday mornings to shop together. I’ll admit I’m spoiled since Jennifer does all the shopping and I go to the store about three times a year whether I need to or not.

C-19 scams

Of course, 99 percent of us are coming together by staying apart as we deal with the new reality which is the COVID-19 pandemic. Then there’s that other one percent. Unbelievable as it may sound, there are already some who are seeing COVID-19 as a vehicle to make money.

Likes ‘pregnant’ idea for great celebration

Dear editor, I enjoyed reading Kyle Cooke’s column, “I have a ‘pregnant’ idea for Rockdale.” I had no idea that Rising Star Choir would be mentioned. But was very pleased with your nomination. I can envision this great celebration. Maybe “A Taste of Rockdale” and all the festivities.

I’ll allow it. Do things to restore your sanity

I feel ancient some days. And then I feel great some days. My body is a COVID-19 yoyo. My diet has gone out the window. What is heart healthy? It’s like I’ve never heard of it. I’ll allow it for a while since eating is my favorite activity.
