EDITORIAL
If you’re a relative newcomer to Rockdale, your reaction to the five-inch-plus rain that interfered with the 2018 Rockdale Fair was probably “really?”
But if you are a longtime resident, your reaction was probably “here we go again.
It’s been eight years that Ken and I have been away from Rockdale. In those years, I’ve held jobs in the newspaper business and as a college professor.
There’s a TV commercial going around now which uses the well-known theme songs from both “The Flintstones” and “The Jetsons.”
I forget what it’s for, but every time I see it I wonder how much they had to pay to use those two classic pieces of Americana.
I’ll bet it wasn’t cheap.
100 YEARS AGO....
Sad shock followed by a happy one. Mr. and Mrs. Ab White of the Rockdale area received word their son, Albert, doing government work in Alabama, had died. The body was returned by train. The Whites were astounded to see the body was not their son.

I drove by the Girls Softball Complex the other day and a thought crossed my mind.
How many girls have played softball on this complex since it was built?

Thanks to all those who made the wiener dog races successful Oct. 6 during the Fall Music Festival.
Masters of ceremonies were Dr. David Pendleton and Ward Roddam.
Dr. David Pendleton, Joan Ratliff, Pam Warren and Ron Rabinowitz were judges for the race.
