100 YEARS AGO.... Pvt. Jesse Fleming became the second Rockdale soldier to die in World War I. His wife, Tansy Taylor Fleming, received word in a telegram from the War Department. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Fleming of Tracy.

100 YEARS AGO.... The inevitable happened. Mr. and Mrs. William Fiesler were advised that their son, Cpl. Rudolph Fiesler, had been killed in action in France. He was the first Rockdale soldier, and the fifth Milam County resident, to die in World War I.
