100 YEARS AGO The Rockdale fire boys earned their annual banquet last Friday, if they had not answered another fire call the entire year. The first alarm came at 7 a.m., with snow falling briskly, and the temperature down to the freezing point.

Open stewardship in action

Monday evening, I attended the Rockdale City Council meeting. I don’t attend every city council meeting, but when a council requests it— or when a local resident asks me to—I will be there to offer whatever help or information I can.

Dear editor, Happy New Year! I hope the year 2026 will bring peace to Ukraine. I can’t help but wonder what President Putin told President Donald Trump up in Alaska since President Trump was going to end the war on Day 1.

Hopeful for 2026
