What else would you expect? It’s 2020 and this year just has to be the burr under our saddle in everything. Early voting for the 2020 general election starts Tuesday and about the only way this year’s ballots could be any more confusing would be if they were printed in bitcoin.

A nice getaway melted away my stress

Last weekend I took a trip to Austin because the walls were starting to close in on me. I highly recommend getting out of town when you can. I feel so relaxed and recharged. I think I can count on two fingers the number of times I’ve stayed in Austin since I moved to Houston in 1989.

Monday final day for voter registration

Historic

The present met the past Friday when the City of Rockdale performed sewer main repairs in the 400 block of West Bell in front of what is arguably the most historic home in town. The three-story house was the home of H. C. Meyer, mayor of Rockdale in the early part of the 20th Century.

Non-COVID

Obviously we all need to be mindful of the you-know-what and take precautions and be careful but you know what? There are other things going on in our community that have nothing to do with the virus and many of them are pretty neat.
