Often we have those in our midst that provide unmatched service that over time we simply come to expect. Sometimes it takes an event, a wakeup call such as a retirement, to remind us of the importance of that something that is with us daily.

4-H Week

San Gabriel Christian welcomes the Carrolls San Gabriel Christian Church welcomes Brother Dan Carroll as guest minister on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. Brother Carroll was a student pastor at the church in 1966 and met and married his wife, Gloria Story, there.

Lemony chicken noodle soup perfect for weather

I haven’t made this recipe yet but it sure sounds good for the kind of weather we’ve been having lately. It’s not really fall yet—and certainly not winter—but just cool enough to enjoy some chicken noodle soup. And the lemon in this recipe will give it a bright flavor.

Milano homecoming king, queen to be crowned Friday

Milano High School celebrates homecoming this week and will crown its homecoming royalty on Friday at the Eagle football game. The 2020 MHS homecoming king and queen will be crowed during halftime ceremonies. Senior king nominees are Marquise Jones, Abraham Perez, Cordell Spears and Jeremy Reyes.

Historical Commission meeting on Monday The Milam County Historical Commission will hold their meeting at the Little River Baptist Church. The meeting will be at 10 a.m. Monday, according to Beth Brooks, publicity editor.

Hope all the parents enjoyed Monday with your children at home. It is hard to believe the kids have been in school for six weeks; first report card for the year already. There will be a volleyball game in Gause on Monday against Aggieland. Then on Oct.
