The annual meeting of the Salty Cemetery Association will be held on March 2 at 7 p.m. at the Salty Church Annex. “The meeting is open to all with loved ones buried at the cemetery, and all others interested in the cemetery are urged to attend,” said spokesperson Paula Gibson Johnson.

Chavez-Kuchera wins art title

Stepha ny Chave z Kuchera has been named Artist of the Year by popular national hunting and conservation magazine Her winning painting of a duck lifting out of the water graces the cover of the magazine’s January/February issue.

Trail Life Troop has new leader

Local Trail Life Troop TX-1516 changed leadership at Monday night’s meeting. Founding Troop Master, Patrick Whalen, has stepped down after almost six years of leadership. Troop Master Whalen is moving and therefore handing over his role to a new Troop Master.

POSGCD launches water campaign

The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) has become an official partner of the educational water awareness campaign Texas Runs on Water with the launch of the local Post Oak Savannah Runs on Water campaign, highlighting the many ways our community is built on water.

Splash Camp 2026 set for March

Splash Camp 2026 is making a big splash this spring, inviting 6th through 8th grade students to dive into a weekend packed with learning, leadership and fun. The camp will take place March 27-29 at the Texas 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood.

Viral salad, enchiladas, broccoli salad

There’s a viral Costco rotisserie chicken recipe going around in which make a chicken salad in the bag the chicken came in. Actually there are several different ones with all kinds of ingredients. This one looks good to me. The directions don’t say but I would use a room temperature chicken.

Attitude of gratitude

“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (Mark 10:9) Afew years ago, I read a “chick book” by Ann Voskamp entitled, One Thousand Gifts. This book revived an attitude of gratitude in my life that still continues today.

Why is this book in the Bible?

“What is this book doing in the Bible?” Puzzled, a man had come to his pastor to ask him this question. “Which book?” asked the pastor. “The Song of Songs, why is it in the Bible?” Why was the man upset? What had he found in the Song of Songs that so frustrated him?
