Master Naturalists classes begin

Texas Master Naturalist Courses begin on Jan. 16, 2025, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Cameron. “If you are passionate about native Texas plants and animals you are welcome to joins us,” said organizer Linda Burgess.

Eastside meets at Moon Brew January 30th

An Eastside Conversation will be held at Moon Brew Coffee Co., 109 N. Main St., on Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will meet Mayor Ward Roddam, hear updates from the cit y and be given an opportunity to ask questions. All citizens are welcome to attend.

The city of held a retirement party for long-time librarian Melanie Todd on Thursday with about 50 people enjoying refreshments.

WINTER WONDERLAND

Rockdale received a dusting of a mix of snow and sleet in the evening hours and overnight Monday with freezing temperatures. The roads around town were not affected much on Tuesday morning.

QUICK LOOK

Rockdale Band Boosters will hold their annual Spaghetti Supper fundraiser on Monday, Feb. 10, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. in the junior high commons. Tickets are $12 and plates include spaghetti, salad, rolls and a drink. Desserts made by band students will be available for sale.

St. Paul BBQ fundraiser, auction Feb. 2

St. Paul Lutheran Church and School will hold its annual barbecue dinner and live auction fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Thorndale Fireman’s Hall on FM 486 North. The meal will consist of brisket with sauce, noodles, pinto beans, potato salad, pickles, onions and bread.

MLK Day Parade

Frigid temperatures did not stop Dr. King’s Dream as the annual Martin Luther King Day Parade took place at 1 p.m. Monday.

Three felony arrests made by Rockdale PD, four accidents reported

Rockdale Police Officers made three felony arrests dur ing the past week including: • Cody Ray Box, 45, Rockdale, was arrested by Ofc, Rodriguez for possession of a controlled substance in a drug free one (1 gam to 4 grams), and possession of marijuana in a drug free zone (less than 2 ounces).
