CASA of Milam County: A Community Coming Together to Change Lives

A strong community is one that acts as a collective support system—creating traumainformed environments, providing resources for families, and standing together against child abuse. That’s exactly what Milam County is doing by supporting CASA of Milam County.

Cowboy Church hosts celebration

Milam County Cowboy Church will hold a Western Heritage Celebration on Saturday November 8 from 2 to 5 p.m. Activities inc lude horse rides, hay rides, fun booths, drinks and music.

QUICK LOOK First Friday coffee honors Dr. Estell

The Thursday Reading Club will host First Friday Coffee this Friday, Nov. 7, at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The club will be honoring the late Dr. Lucile Estell with a special collection of her personal books, as she was a member of the club.
HALLOWEEN FUN— The Kay Theater was the place to be on Friday as the MARC Board of Directors sponsored its annual Halloween party for both the MARC consumers in Rockdale and Giddings Abiding Choice day program participants. Lunch was provided by the East Bell Taphouse. DJ Michael Craig provided music for dancing and celebrating the most lookedforward- to event of the year.

SLEC secures $450M to advance gas plant

Sandow Lakes Energ y Company (“SLEC”) announced it has received a $450 million secured equipment financing loan from Macquarie Asset Management to advance the development of its 1,200 megawatt Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant at Sandow Lakes in Lee County.
