RISD, churches hold coat, hoodie drive

Rockdale ISD’s Children & Teens Winter Coat & Hoodie Drive is being held through Nov. 12. Drop off locations: • Every Rockdale ISD campus. • St. John’s United Methodist Church (Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12-noon). • Rising Star Baptist Church (Sunday mornings only).

Election results

All 17 of the Texas Constitutional amendments passed in Milam County voting according to Milam County Clerk Jodi Morgan, although she did qualify the results as “unoffi cial.” Early voting numbers and election day voting numbers were fairly close with election day voting taking the lead.

Rockdale PD makes two felony arrests, responds to five traffic accidents

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrests dur ing the past week including: • John Pratt, 40, Rockdale, was arrested for theft of property (under $2,500) with two or more previous convictions. • Kendall Booth, 38, Rockdale, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams).

Milano ISD Supt. Luevanos passed away on Monday

Elisabeth Luevanos, superintendent for Milano ISD, passed away Monday. She was recovering from an auto versus pedestrian accident. Acting Supt. Kevin Terry said, “We lost a member of our family today and it hurts.

Beans, beans: the magical fruit

If my weather app can be believed a cool front is coming. Not too cold though. Highs in the 70s and as low as 49 in the morning. It's time for cool weather food. Butter beans with cornbread is one of my favorite things to make and eat.
