‘LIGHT IT UP’—Milano ISD Athletic Department has began a “Light it Up” fundraising campaign to get lights on its baseball field. The school has had a baseball program for over two decades, but never a lighted field. The softball field got lights just a few weeks ago.

100 YEARS AGO... Despite unsettled weather, tremendous rains and almost impassable roads, Rockdale’s third Trade Days proved to be an unqualified success with at least 2,000 persons assembled on the streets. It is believed that this number would have been doubled had the roads permitted travel.

Friday night at the truck and tractor pull; more action Saturday

The Rockdale Fair Association had the Texas Truck and Tractor Pull Association in town for a truck and tractor pull in the rodeo arena at Fair Park on Friday night. The fun starts all over Saturday with a steak cook-off with cook’s choice category.

City decides not to enforce ordinance on political signs

The city of Rockdale sent letters to five property owners telling them they were in violation of a city zoning ordinance concerning political signs. The signs in question date back to the Nov. 3 election and should have been removed in November of last year in accordance with the city ordinance.

Annual Rockdale homecoming is Sunday

The annual Rockdale Homecoming is June 13 in Patterson Civic Center. This year’s event will get started at 9 a.m., with coffee and donuts. The Jones family, the owners of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, will be spotlighted at this year’s homecoming.

Milam creates vaccine incentive program

In an effort to increase herd immunity to COVID-19 virus, the Milam County Commissioners voted Monday at a special meeting to create an incentive program to get the youth of Milam County fully vaccinated.
