Farmers’ Market is now every Saturday morning

The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce has a farmers’ market on the grounds of the Coffield Stone Tree House at 1203 W Cameron. The market is Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon through October. Vendors can reserve spaces for the market by calling 512-446-2030.

Milam County holding cleanup day Saturday

The Milam County tire cleanup day is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Any Milam County resident can bring old automobile, implement and tractor tires to the Precinct 3 headquarters at 107 N. FM 487 in Rockdale on June 12 and drop them off at no charge.

MARC Ride gets under way Saturday

The 20th annual MARC Ride held by The Bad To The Bone Riders of Rockdale is set for Saturday at The Ranch, 415 W. US 79, in Rockdale. The ride benefits the Milam Adult Resource Center of Milam County in Rockdale. The ride for 2021 will start and later end at The Ranch.

Master gardener certifications

Little River Basin Master Gardeners Association of Milam County has two new master gardeners. Lynn Fisher (L) and Kathy Culpepper have been certified after completing over 50 hours of training in the Master Gardener Training Program.

MDD plans meeting to discuss new director

The Rockdale Municipal Development District board of directors will hold a special meeting Thursday to discuss plans to hire an executive director.

ROCKDALE POLICE REPORT

A 20-year-old Round Rock man was arrested June 1 at 11:39 p.m. for possession of controlled substance. A 32-year-old Rockdale resident was arrested Monday at 7:45 p.m. for bail jumping and failure to appear and possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram).

FIRE CALLS

• Tuesday, 5:20 p.m. Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department responded to a field at Baxter and Upton for a city ordinance violation, subject burning tires within the city limits of Rockdale. • Thursday, 8:25 a.m. Rockdale VFD responded a US 77 South at CR 322 for a transformer that blew.

Texas budget awaits governor’s signature

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today announced his certification of Senate Bill 1, the general appro priations act that was approved by both houses during the recently gaveled regular session of the 87th Texas Legislature. The bill now heads to the desk of Gov. Greg Abbott.
