Rockdale’s tax report back on plus side

Rockdale’s February tax returns from the state’s comptroller’s office were back on the positive side after January’s slight dip. February of this year was much better to city coffers that last year with the city’s sales tax total up almost 15% over February of 2020.

Quilt museum exhibit bathed in seasonal colors

The spring and summer exhibits at the Texas Quilt Museum in LaGrange are all about colors: in solids, in nature, and in glorious blue and white. The will run through Sept. 18.

County to begin giving shots to homebound

The county will start accepting vaccination requests for Milam County residents who are homebound. If you know someone that is not able to get out and get a shot, please let them know to call and/or call us for them to get on the homebound shot list.

Milam County has 46th COVID-19 fatality

There has been another COVID-19 death in Milam County, Judge Steve Young reported in his weekly email. The fatality was an older male with no comorbidity, the report said. The countywide COVID-19 death toll is now at 46. "If you have not gotten a shot, please get one.

Milam County continues giving COVID-19 shots

The active case count dropped by one Tuesday. There are now 20 COVID-19 active cases in Milam County, which is about where we were last July. As of last Friday, there were over 125 million cases globally with 2,700,000 deaths. In the U.S. there has been 29,700,000 confirmed cases and 540,000 deaths.

Building owner arrested, faces court date

The owner of the building that once housed Antique Queens was arrested March 25 on a criminal trespass charge after he was found sleeping in the building at 106 West Cameron in downtown Rockdale. Ira Richard Thrasher Jr.

Egg scramble

A helicopter dropped eggs at Memorial Park in Lexington on Saturday morning. Hundreds of people gathered in the park to watch a helicopter fly high in circles around the park before dropping two loads of “eggs” onto the field at the park.
