I’m getting excited about spring vegetables now that the farmer’s market is starting up again the first weekend in April. Last year Mr. Joe (Hairston) brought hothouse tomatoes from Florida until his own were ready from his farm in Milano.

Ag booster club holding online fundraiser

Milano/Gause Ag Booster Club is currently holding an online fundraiser to help support local 4-H and FFA projects at the upcoming Milam County Junior Livestock Show (MCJLS). Check out the group’s Facebook page for your chance to win great items.

It’s a beautiful Monday morning. Maybe it will be nice for spring break and families can do the activities they have planned. A reminder that the Dendy Brown Benefit/Ride fundraiser will be held at Nat’s in Milano on Saturday, March 30. The ride fee is $20 per person or $25 with a passenger.

Downtown beautification

The work on the buildings in the 200 block of East Cameron Avenue is completed. The buildings were painted two colors to emphasize the two buildings, and had wood and stucco work done.

If you sustained damage from snow and ice during the winter storms and you have insurance, contact your insurance company and then FEMA. Your insurance claim information is needed to determine eligibility for federal assistance.

Czech museum has new exhibition

The Czech Heritage Museum and Genealogy Center in Temple will present “The Bonfire of Liberties: Censorship of the Humanities,” an exhibition by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities during March and April.
