Russell Jones who lives in London was concerned when he noticed his dog was walking with one of its front paws raised so he took his pet to the vet for a checkup. It cost him the equivalent of $400 but the dog doctor could find nothing wrong with the pooch’s leg.

There were two felony arrests reported for the past week. A 36-year-old Cameron man was arrested Thursday for possession of a controlled substance and theft. Another man, 35, was on a sheriff’s warrant for assault with a previous conviction.

The Snug Bakery & Cafe is planning to open either in May or June at 121 East Cameron Avenue in downtown Rockdale. Owner Jacobi Mullen decided to give Rockdalians a sample of coming attractions by making and giving away over 200 chocolate chip cookies on Feb. 6.

Cold snap mean citrus crop loss in Texas

The historic cold snap that has frozen Texas this week with brutal winter weather and brought snow all the way to beaches along the Gulf of Mexico is also bringing headaches for citrus growers at the southern tip of the state.

Milano VFD chili supper, gun drawing postponed

Per Milano Volunteer Fire Department fire chief Kain Dodd, the MVFD chili supper originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20, has been postponed. It will be rescheduled as soon as possible. The postponement is due to weather concerns and other unforeseen circumstances.
