COVID-19 claims two more lives in Milam County

Two more Milam County people have died so far this week from the effects of COVID-19, according to County Judge Steve Young’s report from Tuesday night. At the end of 2020 in Milam County, the COVID-19 death toll was 11.

RVFD fundraiser tickets now on sale

Tickets for the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department’s annual fund raising night at the KC Hall are now on sale, according to spokesman Mike Korenek. The fund raiser is set for May 15. Donors can get on the list by calling Korenek at 512-430-2315 or James McQuinn at 512-577-5715.

Car reported missing; driver admits leaving it

On Wednesday, police got a call from a woman saying her car was missing. The car was later located on north Wilcox near the baseball field.

• Thursday, 12:35 p.m. The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department responded to FM 1786 for a grass fire. • Friday, 4:34 p.m. The Milano Volunteer Fire Department responded to US 79 near a bar for a vehicle fire. • Friday, 8:13 p.m.

Fishing line

The Knights of Columbus Hall on US 79 was a popular place to catch some fish last Friday as cars lined up to buy containers of fried fish, coleslaw, pinto beans, hush puppies and a dessert delivered to them at the fish supper that will continue through Lent.
