BEST COVID DAY IN MONTHS: NO NEW PCR CASES; HOSPITAL COUNT ZERO

 From County Judge Steve Young Friday evening: I am again pleased to report good news from the Milam County Health Departmentt. No new confirmed PCR cases in the County today.  We do have two new probable cases to report.  No one was admitted to a hospital and five persons were discharged.

From County Judge Steve Young late Thursday night: I am pleased to report we had only had one new confirmed PCR test in the county Thursday.  We did have five new probable cases, including four of the eight we tested in Cameron. No one was admitted to a hospital and one person was discharged.

Trash Stash set Saturday for Fair Park

Fall Stash Your Trash Day is set for 8 a.m. to 12-noon Saturday at Fair Park. Rockdale residents can bring items such as old furniture, mattresses and other household items to be discarded for free. Residency will be checked by a driver’s license and a water bill.

Queen contest heads to Thorndale

This year’s nontraditional Rockdale Fair Queen Pageant will really be nontraditional. It has been moved to Thorndale Fireman’s Hall.

Council names itself as new MDD directors

At a noon Friday meeting, Rockdale City Council members voted to name a new board for the city’s Municipal Development District, and recall all but one of the current members. The council named themselves to the MDD board.

Health-care station opens in Cameron Thursday

The clinician is alway in – during operating hours anyway. The new health unit called the Texas A&M-OnMed Health Care Station will be operational starting Thursday, according to information from the Texas A&M Health Science Center.

Pedestrian dies from accident in Thorndale THORNDALE—A 48-year-old Thorndale man died Friday night in Thorndale after he was struck by vehicle on US 79 near Thorndale CEFCO. The victim was identified by Police Chief Mark Birchard as Aurelio Soto Garcia.

Rockdale officers make 6 felony arrests last week

Rockdale police officers made six felony arrests over the past week. William Zachary Wallace, 38, of Rockdale, was arrested Monday after arresting officers stopped traffic at East Bell Avenue and Rice Street.
