NO NEW CASES TUESDAY

From County Judge Steve Young Tuesday night: I am pleased to report that we had no new confirmed PCR tests Tuesday.  However, we did have three positive antigen tests resulting from our testing in Thorndale.

FIVE NEW CASES REPORTED MONDAY

From County Judge Steve Young Monday night: Monday we have five new confirmed cases of the virus in Milam County.  This is encouraging as it includes the weekend.  Seven individuals were discharged and no one was admitted to a hospital.

ANOTHER MILAM DEATH, FOUR NEW CASES

From County Judge Steve Young Friday night: I am sad to report another death in the county due to the virus.  The Milam County resident had recently tested positive for the virus and died at home on Wednesday.   This brings the Milam County death toll to six.

CASES CONTINUE TO EASE; ONLY ONE NEW ON THURSDAY

From County Judge Steve Young Thursday night: We have one new confirmed case of the virus to report in Milam County Thursday  and three were discharged.  One person was admitted to the hospital and one was discharged.  We tested in Cameron, but the turnout was light.

‘Pinch-hit’ BBQ, auto shows set Fair week

There won’t be a barbecue cookoff or auto show at the Rockdale Fair this year, due to the pandemic, but similar events will be staged at Apache Pass by non-Fair organizers. The first Apache Pass Cook-Off & Car Show is planned for Oct.

Boniello trial ‘not until 2022’

The death penalty capital murder trial of a short-term Rockdale resident accused of squeezing a 20-month-old child to death in 2018 probably won’t happen for another 15 months, at least.

Expand hospital district? It’s up to you

It’s an election in the Rockdale Independent School District that doesn’t have anything to do with the schools or students. Some people participating will be asked whether they want to pay new taxes. Even though everyone will use the same ballot, it’s actually two separate elections.

Old City Hall bid okayed

Rockdale City Council members, meeting online Monday in their regular September session, voted to accept the $100,000 proposal from Collier and Peggy Perry to purchase the Old City Hall building. The council also formally accepted their proposed 90.74 tax rate.

COVID still trending down for past week

Milam County’s fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic is far from over but it’s definitely been heading in the right direction. Only 16 positive tests were recorded during the week, a drop of three from the previous week’s 19. (The Reporter lists a week of cases from early Wednesday to early Wednesday.

No penalty from fight after game

LEXINGTON—The University Interscholastic League is not “throwing a flag” on Rockdale and Lexington after a fight erupted at Eagle Field Friday night following the Rockdale-Lexington football game.
