AMBER WAVES OF GRAIN—It’s that time of year again, virus or no virus. Crops throughout the central part of the county are in evidence as July gives way to August. This is grain sorghum (milo), still prominent in the county although corn has become the county’s “go-to” crop in recent years.

Tips to handle, store and cook ground beef

Ground beef labels may also indicate which primal cut the beef comes from, such as chuck, round or sirloin. Select beef with a bright cherry-red color. Beef in a sealed bag typically has a darker purplish-red color. When exposed to the air, it will turn a bright red.

Texas sales tax holiday ahead August 7th-9th
