Food giveaway Thursday

Just about every public event in the area has been canceled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but one that hasn’t is the Central Texas Food Bank’s first Thursday surplus food distribution in the KC Hall parking lot. Time is 9 to 11 a.m. It won’t look like the previous ones, however.

Martial law? Nope

The Reporter has received, and observed, communications alluding to the current Shelter-In-Place situation in Rockdale and Milam County as “martial law.” That represents a misunderstanding of what martial law actually is.

Elections postponed until, well, sometime

Rockdale, and the Rockdale-area, were to have gone to the polls Saturday, May 2, to decide a lot of issues, including electing new city council and school board members. They will still go to the polls, but exactly when is dependent on when, and how, the COVID-19 situation plays out.

Easy Mexican Chicken Casserole

2 pounds chicken breasts (about 4) Salt and pepper 8-oz Mexican shredded cheese, divided (about three cups) 1 cup sour cream 2 7-oz. cans diced green chilis with juice Preheat oven to 400˚F and butter a 9x13 casserole dish.

With all these flu and virus “things” that are going around, people are staying close to home and only getting out when absolutely necessary. Wayne had to get out this morning to go to the doctor for his blood check. Gause School is scheduled to re-open April 3.
