Services for JT Herring, 76, of Rockdale were held Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Mr. Herring died Wednesday, Jan. 17, in Brenham. He was born Feb. 24, 1941, in Del Rio to Thomas Allen and Edna Mae (Carta) Herring. Mr. Herring worked at Alcoa for many years, retiring in 2002. He married Francie Wilson on March 16, 1962, in Cuidad Acura, Mexico, and then again on March 31, 1962 in Sanderson. Mr. Herring enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading Louis L’Amour books, dancing with Francie, playing pool and teaching his children and grandchildren how to play. He was a former member of the Rockdale EMS. Mr. Herring was preceded in death by his wife, Francie Herring on Dec. 15, 2012; a son, Thomas Allen Herring II; his brothers, Bennie Luxton, Johnnie Eugene Luxton and Joe Lynn Herring; and his parents. Survivors are his daughters, Bobbi Faust and Ty Wedemeier of Victoria, Sandra Herring of Bremond, Tracie Sparks and husband Clay of Brenham, and Cassidy Herring of Rockdale; his grandchildren, Lee Faust and wife Chelsea, Curtis Faust and Sadey Komandosky, Shelby Hamrick, Bryson Gully, Lane Sparks and Jayda Spellings; and his great-grandchildren, Cole, Jaxson and Adaline Faust. Pallbearers were Lee Faust, Curtis Faust, Bryson Gully, Clay Sparks, Bud Luxton, Lane Sparks and Curtis Wollam. Honorary pallbearers were Ty Wedemeier, Larry Kight, Johnny Andrews, Tommy Vick, Bert Smith, Harold Barber, Ricky Wells, Lamar Closs, Butch Wilson, Jesse Wilson, Ed Betak, Ernie Green, Tommy Luxton and Nelard Finch.
