Ms. Tice
Katherine “Kathy” Joyce Tice, 86, of Austin went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 15, 2026, in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born on April 14, 1940, in Fort Worth to Leslie Clide Tice and Katherine Fern (Stepp) Tice.
Kathy spent her childhood in Fort Worth before moving to Rockdale during her high school years.
In the late 1960s, she settled in Austin, where she built a career in real estate and the title industry, making many lasting friendships along the way.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, delighting in hearing about their lives and celebrating each of their accomplishments. Nothing brought her more happiness than being “Mimi.” She also adored her sweet dog, Daisy, who brought her comfort and joy.
Kathy was a woman of deep faith who loved the Lord and faithfully served through her church communities. Over the years, she was a devoted member of Allendale Baptist Church, Great Hills Baptist Church, and most recently, Grace Covenant Church. She enjoyed Bible studies, church activities and growing in her faith alongside her family and dear friends.
She embraced life with enthusiasm and cherished time spent with the many friends who became like family. Whether attending book club, enjoying a spirited game of Hand and Foot, or gathering for “girl time,” Kathy’s humor and love for people shined through. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, always looking forward to her next trip.
The beach was one of her happiest places, where she loved listening to the waves, feeling the ocean breeze, and simply soaking in God’s beautiful creation. She also treasured her many trips to Colorado that brought her peace and joy. Whether by the ocean or in the mountains, Kathy loved making memories with the people she loved.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Chuck Betchan; her parents, Leslie Clide Tice and Katherine Fern (Stepp) Tice; and her brothers, Leslie Tice and Larry “Butch” Tice.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Vicki (Bobby) Moore, Ralynn (John) Perrin, and Rob Smith; her daughter-in-law, Denise Betchan; her grandchildren, Valarie (Andy) Willingham, Brandon (Misti) Moore, James (Kerri) Moore, Mendy (Chr is) Baker, Thomas (Ammi) Betchan, Elliott (Hallie) Perrin, Jillian Perrin, Jeremiah Smith, and Alexandria Hyman-Smith; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Luke, Addison, Beckham, Brock, Kenedi, Ruby, Rose, Hank, Wyatt, Harper, Maddie, and Brooks.
Kathy’s family rejoices knowing she is healed, whole and forever in the presence of Jesus. Her legacy of faith and deep love for her family and friends will be remembered always. She was a spiritual leader whose influence will continue to live on in all who knew her.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, at Grace Covenant Church, 9431 Jollyville Road, Austin, TX 78759. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the remarkable life of a woman who loved well and was deeply loved in return. Well done, good and faithful servant!
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be donated to Grace Covenant Church or a charity of your choice.
