This past volleyball season, everything seemed to be going right for the Lady Tigers. Coach Kelsey Hudson had almost all of her players back from a young 2020 playoff team and it looked like the group was poised for a deep playoff run.

Short-handed RHS teams fall to Rogers

Tiger basketball started off hot Friday night in Rogers, but early foul trouble and a lack of depth led to Rockdale coming up short against the Eagles, 71-53.

New year, new gym: TISD athletics gets upgrade

Last week, Thorndale ISD thanked the community via social media for all the donations made for new weight room equipment. Trying something new, it was Thorndale student athletes that reached out to many different people to help raise money for new weight machines through text message and e-mail.

Bartsch earns honor

On Sunday, the Bryan Eagle released their 24th annual All-Brazos Valley volleyball teams with Rockdale’s Julie Bartsch being selected for the third team. The RHS junior had 507 kills with 71 blocks, 47 aces and .342 hitting percentage this past fall.

MHS teams fall to Iola, Granger

Eagle basketball fell to Iola on the road Friday evening. MHS opens their District 27-2A slate on Friday in Hearne. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Lady Eagles opened district play this past Friday, losing to Granger a close 41-37 battle.

RHS Powerlifting Tiger and Lady Tiger powerlifters start their season Friday in Taylor. RHS athletic banquet Rockdale High School’s Fall Athletic Banquet will take place Monday, Jan. 24, in the RJH Commons.

Lady Dogs defeat Hearne in opener

Thorndale’s Lady Dog basketball team opened up play in District 27-2A with a 42-30 road win over Hearne, marking the first time THS has defeated the Lady Eagles since Dec. 17, 2019.

Tigers defeat Robinson 2-1

While many were getting ready for New Year’s Eve parties or coming up with diets for their resolutions, Tiger soccer took down Robinson 2-1 to get their first victory of the season. RHS senior Marvin Mata and freshman Daniel Castillo scored the team’s two goals.

RHS Fall Athletic banquet moved

Originally scheduled for this coming Monday, Rockdale High School will hold their fall athletic banquet on Monday, Jan. 24, at the RJH Commons at 6 p.m.
