Multiple powerlifting meets in Milam County

Rockdale and Thorndale High Schools plan to host powerlifting meets in the near future. THS holds their second meet today (Wednesday) at the school’s weight room, which recently got brand new equipment. RHS has their first meet in more than five years on Saturday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

RJH eighth graders win TMS tourney

Rockdale Junior High’s eighth grade “A” team won the Thorndale Tournament, beating the hosting Bulldogs 47-46 and Mumford, 49-45, in the title game. De’andre Nunn led RJH scoring 21 in each game.

Bulldogs beat Granger, 55-33

Thorndale’s boys basketball team grabbed two district wins last week, taking down rival Thrall last Tuesday 72-50 and beating Granger 55-33 Friday on the road. The Bulldogs got off to a slow start with GHS, trailing 7-2 in the first two minutes of the game.

Tiger lifters win Taylor meet

Rockdale’s boys powerlifting season got off to a nice start Saturday, winning the Taylor meet with firstplace finishes for Darren ter, Bryce Flowers and Gavin Cariel Aguilar and a second place finish by Kevin Liu. Dan-Gardiner and Wyatt Smith each placed third.

Rockdale teams play hard in Caldwell

Everything looked great for the Tigers during the first quarter of Friday night’s game in Caldwell. They led 15-6 with a team that only had four players that began the season on varsity.

Lady Tigers get win over Academy, 2-1

RHS Lady Tiger soccer ended the Cameron tourney victorious, beating Little-River Academy 2-1 to get their first win of the season. Marisa Hernandez and Ana Pacheco scored the decisive goals in their victory.

Thorndale hoopsters stomp Holland

Lady Dog basketball didn’t waste much time Friday evening at their third district contest in Holland, where they beat the Lady Hornets 57-21. Thorndale built an early lead at the close of the first, up 14-8. But THS outscored the Bell County squad 16-4 in the second to take a 30-12 lead at halftime.

This past volleyball season, everything seemed to be going right for the Lady Tigers. Coach Kelsey Hudson had almost all of her players back from a young 2020 playoff team and it looked like the group was poised for a deep playoff run.

Short-handed RHS teams fall to Rogers

Tiger basketball started off hot Friday night in Rogers, but early foul trouble and a lack of depth led to Rockdale coming up short against the Eagles, 71-53.
