RHS hoops looks to improve

Lady Tiger basketball team played two days in a row last week. First, they hit the road last Monday to face Class 4A Jarrell, who won 60-38. The Blue-and-Gold got back on the yellow dog the next day to take on Class 2A Moody, who beat RHS 33-26.

On Friday evening, the Rockdale Tiger basketball team held an alumni game and threepoint competition to kick off the 2021-22 season. Tiger head coach Marcus McNeil spoke highly of the event.

Lady Tiger basketball game canceled due to death of Somerville student

Fourth-year head coach Meredith Caffey and the Lady Tigers were scheduled to face Somerville this past Friday evening. However, the game ended up not being played after SHS senior Ah’Mari Mouton was killed in a car accident involving a moving train around 7:50 that morning according to KWTX in Waco.

It was announced last week that nine Rockdale volleyball players received honors which were voted on by District 19-3A coaches. RHS junior Yolianna Castillo was named Setter of the Year while her classmate Julie Bartsch was voted on to the first team.
