Although 2021 was a mildly unusual year (relative to 2020, that is), Rockdale, Milano and Thorndale schools had 12 state qualifiers, seven playoff teams, two state champions and 10 students commit or sign to college athletic programs.

After putting up 436 passing yards for University of Mary Hardin-Baylor’s offense Friday evening, Milano grad Kyle King is officially a national champion. The Crusaders took down North Central College 57-24 in Canton, Ohio, at the Stagg Bowl, which is the Division III football title game.

Lady Dogs show fight in Salado loss

Going into halftime down by nearly 20 points to Class 4A Salado, the Lady Dogs basketball team was anything but finished. In the second half, the Milam County squad chipped away at the Lady Eagle lead, coming within four points. SHS held off Thorndale in the end, winning 57-48.

RHS hosts alumni game Friday

Tiger soccer got their season started Friday in Florence where they fell 1-0 in their season opening scrimmage. Head coach Gilberto Rodriguez said the loss was a result of Florence improving and the Blueand-Gold having a lot of new faces.
