In a span of 12 minutes, Thorndale managed to score 34 unanswered points during the opening quarter of their first district contest on Friday night in Moody, where they shutout the Bearcats 55-0. Within the first minute, Jayden Clawson scored on a 19-yard TD run.

Eagles fall short to Somerville

In Friday night’s district opener, the Eagles started off the evening going head-to-head with visiting Somerville. The Yeguas got their first touchdown on a 70-yard run, only for MHS sophomore Alan Maldonado to answer back on a goal line TD to tie the game at seven at the close of the first quarter.

Rockdale’s junior varsity was unable to make up for early McGregor scoring last Thursday evening at MHS, where they fell 12-6. The Bulldogs scored a touchdown in both the first and second quarter, taking a 12-0 lead at halftime.

For the 17th time in school history, the Thorndale Bulldogs beat the Milano Eagles in football. This time, it was in a 49-0 shutout at MHS on Friday. The Bulldogs were quick to score as senior Stryker Leschber blocked a punt return that he took into the end zone.

Rivalry: Lady Dogs fall in Thrall

Lady Dog volleyball ended Saturday afternoon with their first district loss, falling 24-26, 9-25, 20-25 to rival Thrall, the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s seventh-ranked team in Class 2A.

As of Saturday afternoon, Lady Eagle volleyball is on a two-game winning streak after sweeping Buckholts 25-11, 25-12, 25-13. Malinda Gordon and Karyme Santana led at the net with five kills each.
