Rockdale’s Country Club has a youth golf tourney scheduled for Tuesday, July 20. The event, which is for junior high-aged golfers, will start at 8:45 a.m., and has three flights.

Both the Rockdale Dubs (above) and the Thorndale Elite (below) are headed to the Texas Teenage Association of Softball’s 15-and-Under State Tournament in Athens and will play from July 5-9. The Elite won the district tournament in McGregor and the Dubs placed third behind second place Cameron Storm.

In the 62nd annual Texas Football magazine, Greg Tepper, the publication’s managing editor, pegged the Rockdale Tiger football team to finish third in District 11-3A-DI behind rival Cameron and Lorena, who is picked to win the seven-team district and was ranked eighth by TF in all of Class 3A-DI.

Last week, the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association announced that Thorndale baseball players Bryson Beran and Logan Davis were all-state selections. Beran, who concluded the year with 38 hits, 23 runs batted in and a batting average of .404, was pegged for the top team as a first baseman.
