Rockdale went into Friday night’s season finale at Caldwell without four starters including senior guards D’Erika Hurd and Miah Beckwith, sophomore post Julie Bartsch and junior post Karli Marburger, who hadn’t played since her team faced Caldwell on Jan. 12.

Signing day the Tiger way

With the flick of a pen, Rockdale’s Ty Mayberry (pictured below) and Anthony Dansby (above) were officially committed to their future colleges with hopes of furthering their studies and playing football at the next level.

Tiger soccer beats Cameron in tie-breaker

As the match was tied at four, Rockdale’s fifth ever game against rival Cameron came down a sudden death kick, where each team had to select one player to attempt a goal to decide the victor. For RHS, coach Gilberto Rodriguez called on Tyler Thomas to knock in a goal, which he ended up doing.

Young Tigers grow against big Caldwell team

Like the Lady Tigers, the Tigers were also without many of their starters when they fell to Caldwell 78-54 Friday. RHS had nine players suit up in the Blue-and-Gold including A.J Hicks, Aiden Hirt and Mason Willard, who were called up from the junior varsity for the game against the Hornets.

MHS girls end season at Thrall, 39-29

Milano came up short at Thrall Friday night, as the Lady Eagles lost their season finale to the Tigerettes 39-29. The Lady Eagles played THS close, but were unable to make up for a Thrall run early in the game. Natalie Compton had eight and Aaliyah McBrewer finished the game with six.

RHS, THS baseball open with scrimmage

On Monday evening, Rockdale and Thorndale High School baseball teams started their 2021 season against each other in a scrimmage at THS.

Lady Tigers lifters win Brazos meet

Rockdale’s Lady Tiger powerlifting team won the Brazos Invitational last Wednesday. The Lady Tigers had four first place finishers including Jena Locklin, Mercades Ramirez, Jesenia Navarro and Mackenzie Musto, who was named Girl Lifter of the Meet.

Goggans goes with Aggies on national signing day

On Feb. 3, Marble Falls senior Bailey Goggans signed her official letter of intent to continue her track and field career at Texas A&M. Goggans is the granddaughter of Rockdale High School alum Judy Dyer Sivadon and niece of longtime RHS faculty Wenda Dyer and Sharon Shoemake.

Rhoades returns to Cameron as head guy On Monday evening, Cameron ISD trustees named Rick Rhoades as head football coach at Yoe High School for the second time since 2009.
