With college football recruiting beginning to heat up, RHS wide receiver Anthony Dansby is getting noticed by college coaches. In the past three weeks, Dansby has received offers from Eastern New Mexico University, Kansas Wesleyan and McPherson College in Kansas.

Soccer teams prep for season with scrimmages

Soccer play has begun at RHS as the boys and girls played their first scrimmage on Friday. Both team’s faced the Academy Bumblebees as a benchmark to prepare for regular season play. BOYS—The Tigers looked sharp as they tied the Academy Bumblebees 2-2.

The RHS Lady Tigers continued their stellar season as they split their two contests. On Saturday, the Lady Tigers hosted the Burton Lady Panthers. RHS dominated the game from start to finish winning 56-33. Julie Bartsch was the top scorer for the Lady Tigers with 18 points.

The Tigers JV basketball team struggled as they fell in their two contests this past week. On Friday, the Tigers traveled to Weimar to face the JV Wildcats. The Tigers fought until the end but lost a close one 55-52. Colton Bradshaw led the Tigers in scoring with 19 points.

BASKETBALL BRIEFS

Milano Boys—On Friday, the Eagles lost to the Somerville Yeguas 53-52. Jayce Todd led the Eagles with 22 points. Other scorers included Layne Telg 8, Weston Avrett 7, Bryson Richards 7, Hector Munoz 5 and Ethan Gordon 3. On Saturday, the Eagles were defeated by the La Grange Leopards 55-41.

The Bulldogs went 1-1 this past week. On Friday, The Bulldogs were defeated by the Cameron Yoemen 88-51. Blake Roberts led the Bulldogs with 22 points. Other top scorers were Logan Davis 13, Chance Betak 9, Dean Johnson 4, Jake Ivy 2 and Cayden Nicholson 1.

The Lady Bulldogs are back in the win column after earning two victories this past week. On Friday, they defeated the Bosqueville Lady Bulldogs 46-35. Kyndal Robinson lead the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 12 points.

Player tests positive in COVID-19 exam

Officials at Rockdale High School found out Tuesday that a member of the varsity boys basketball team tested positive for COVID-19. “Our entire boys varsity basketball team is in quarantine until next week,” said Denise Monzingo, the district superintendent.
