RHS golf tees off season Friday

Both RHS golf teams start their season this weekend with a tournament at the Pecan Lakes Golf Course in Navasota on Friday and Saturday.

Mitchell places first at Arcadia

Rockdale native and nationally ranked bull-rider Ezekiel Mitchell had a lovely Saturday when he finished first place at the Arcadia Day One Short Go in Florida. He beat out Brazilians Mauricio Gulla Moreira and Joao Ricardo Vieira to take the top spot and win the $1,000 top prizes.

Musto, Navarro return to regionals

Rockdale senior powerlifters Jesenia Navarro and Mackenzie Musto have qualified for the Region III meet in Dublin on March 5. Navarro won the 114-pound division squatting 255 pounds, bench pressing 110 and hitting a dead lift of 270 for a total of 635 pounds.

Lady Tigers fall short with Cameron

It all came down to the final minutes in Rockdale’s 57-50 loss to Cameron, where the Lady Yoe pulled away towards the end. “It was back and forth, peaks and valleys. Our goal was to come out a lot stronger than we did the first game we had with Camer on,” said Lady Tiger head coach Meredith Caffey.

On Monday evening, Rockdale High School head football coach and athletic director Jacob Campsey held a recruiting seminar for RHS student athletes.

Eagles beat Granger on the road 66-35

On Friday night, the Milano Eagle basketball team picked up their second straight win, taking down Granger 66-35 at the Lion Gymnasium. Jayce Todd led MHS with 21 points and Bryson Richards scored 14. Three days earlier, the Eagles picked up their first district win, beating Thrall 67-60 at home.

THS struggles against top-ranked Hearne

Thorndale finished the first quarter up 15-14 over 22nd-ranked Hearne, but the Bulldogs were overpowered in the second quarter, trailing at halftime 33-23.
