MISD collecting for Christmas Round-Up

MILANO NEWS Milano ISD is collecting certain items for the area’s Christmas Round-Up. Each campus is accepting donations of unwrapped toys, soup of any kind, instant potatoes and canned chicken. Deadline to turn in items to MISD campus is Dec. 6.

Gause ISD students are having their Thanksgiving holidays this week. Many families have trips planned. Hope you all have a nice holiday and safe trips. Wanda And Al Coats hosted a birthday party Sunday for their great-grandson, Grant Ward, who turned 8 years old.

Thanksgiving luncheon serves 1,041

Volunteers were determined 2017’s one-year lapse in Rockdale’s annual Community Thanksgiving Luncheon was going to be just that, a one-year lapse. Rockdale obviously wants it back.

Veterans get songs, tributes from students

It was a special Veterans Day ceremony for a number of reasons as hundreds of students, veterans and guests packed the RHS gym. First, because Sunday is the 100th anniversary of World War I. Observances of that date, first called Armistice Day, led to the creation of what is now Veterans Day.

Milano Elementary hosting book fair

MILANO NEWS Milano Elementary School is hosting a Book Fair this week. Times are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, Nov. 2, in the school cafeteria. Book fairs hold a special place in my heart and are some of my fondest memories from grade school.
