GOVERNOR’S AWARD

—The Milano Volunteer Fire Department captured the Governor’s Award in Saturday morning’s Fair Parade. It featured the MVFD’s Miss Flame, Kayli Yakesch along with Milano pageant contestants Lily Jones, Caylee Butler, Kylie Yakesch, Jolee Keen, Jesalyn Miller and Mallory Miller.

ROCKDALE CHRISTIAN SERVICES

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

Volunteers get awards from RFA Saturday

Appreciation plaques were bestowed Saturday before the annual Fir Youth Livestock Auction by the Rockdale Fair Association (RFA). Russell Fischer was named the RFA’s outstanding member of the year.

466 entries in home economics show

Rockdale Fair Home Economics Division was held Oct. 15-17. A total of 466 entries were received. Best of Show winners were: • Beginner—Grady Ranspot, creative arts and crafts. • Junior—James Bartsch, woodworking. • Intermediate—Julie Bartsch, Christmas craft.

COMEDIC CHAOS

—Milam Community Theater’s staging of “Mystery’s in the Heir” continues this weekend at the Williams Event Center in Cameron. Audiences get to pick the “killer” so different outcomes are possible at different performances. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with curtain up at 7.
