Reception Oct. 17 for marketing director The City of Rockdale will host a meet and greet reception for Cassie “Caz” Muske, its new marketing director on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The meet and greet is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Community Room, 107 North Main Street.

FIRE CALLS

The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department was called to a reported tree on fire a 10:25 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters said the call turned out to be a transformer. There were numerous power outages in Rockdale over the weekend. See story on page 1A.

BUSINESS OF THE MONTH

BUSINESS OF THE MONTH—Rockdale Meat Market, owned by John Ramirez, has been named business of the month for October by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce. Ramirez, employees, Chamber and city officials were on hand for the banner presentation ceremony.

Arnold’s Destiny to rule ‘18 Fair

Destiny Arnold, an 18-year-old senior at Thorndale High School, was crowned Miss Rock-dale Fair 2018 Saturday before a crowd of more than 300 in the Rockdale Junior-High Commons. The pageant was moved from the high school auditorium due to a power outage.
