Kyle’s Kitchen Ithink we are either having ham or pork lion for Easter. Mom hasn't made up her mind yet. But if we have ham, I know there will be leftovers. Here's an old-fashioned recipe for using up the rest of the ham. Or some of it anyway.

Milam 4-H’ers make impression at Houston Livestock, MJ Hanna

DONATIONS

The Peace Lutheran Women’s Bible Study group and the church’s Busy Bee Quilters did a service project for the Place of Hope Fundraiser coming up on April 25 (see story on the front page for details) and made up five gift baskets and donated three quilts for the event.

Easter egg hunt set in Thorndale

St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Thorndale 4-H Club are hosting an Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, April 19, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church located at 101 N. Third St. in Thorndale.

Deep and wide

Igrew up in the church (PTL) and I grew up singing, “Deep and wide, deep and wide, there is a fountain flowing deep and wide.” I also grew up going to the community pool when visiting my grandparents and I remember the kiddie pool.

Peace Lutheran Peace Lutheran Church will be celebrating Palm Sunday on April 14 at 10:30 a.m., Maundy Thursday on April 17 at 6:30 p.m., Good Friday on April 18 at 6:30 p.m., Easter brunch on April 20 at 9 a.m., followed by an Easter egg hunt at 9:45 a.m., and service at 10:30 a.m.

100 YEARS AGO The Southern Steel Company, of San Antonio, has been given the contract and is now engaged in erecting an iron fence around the old City Cemetery in Rockdale. This is the culmination of an object long worked for by the good women of Rockdale, through their Cemetery Association.
