Prayer: communicating with the Most High

Communication is the most important aspect of any relationship. No matter what kind, if you are not communicating, the relationship will die. The closest friends I have ever had were the ones I made in college. I was attending Tarleton State University at the time.

“Joy for the Journey,” a Christian motivational event for women, will take place from 8 a.m. until 12-noon Saturday, Sept. 24, at First Baptist Church, 400 W. Main St. in Cameron.

Very best carrot cake ever

Igot this recipe from the Pioneer Woman and with the slightly lower temperatures we’ve been having I thought it sounded good. There are lots of things you can put on top of it once it’s out of the oven to make it taste even more taco-like, and so everyone can add their favorites.

REUNIONS

The RHS Class of 1964 will hold a reunion/class get-together on Oct. 4 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Rockdale Country Club. The event will include hamburgers with all the fixings for $8.50. Water and iced tea will be provided with the meal.

GAUSE NEWS

This Monday morning is a beautiful day. Those having to be out and about should enjoy The children at school can be out at recess time using some of that energy that they have. I have a lawn chair in the front yard and I may sit out there until it gets too sunny and hot.

APACHE PASS CAR SHOW

Over the weekend, multiple people received awards at the third annual Apache Pass Car Show. Juan Rubio, won the award for “Best in Show” with his 1948 International Pickup and Barney Barnhill, whose 1946 GMC Pickup won the award for “Best Engine.

Lady Dogs sweep Lady Eagles

On Saturday afternoon, Milam County neighbors Thorndale and Milano played at MHS, where the Lady Dogs took down the Lady Eagles in three straight sets, 25-22, 26-24, 25-20.
