90th BIRTHDAY—Roberta Pounders celebrated her 90th birthday at a luncheon at the Patterson Civic Center recently. The lunch was hosted by her children Vicky Everhart, Becky Nink, Pamela Bryan and Robert and Renee Pounders.

The 1895 receives $3,800 from Walmart

Walmart Store No. 280 has been an integral part of the community of Rockdale for many years. In addition to being a major employer in the area, Walmart Store No. 280 is also a primary contributor of sales tax revenue supporting the City of Rockdale’s municipal budget.

ORGANIZATIONS

Historical meeting on Monday at courthouse The Milam County Historical Commission will conduct its first meeting of 2022 on Monday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Courthouse in Cameron. The purpose of this commission is to preserve, protect and promote history within the county.

I think I have shared about a former high school principal that we love a lot who gave me a book written by some Fellowship of Christian Athlete guys that encourages people to choose one word to filter their life through. My word is “connect.

Once upon a time, an enemy captured a prince’s fair maiden, and put her in a tower. The prince recruited the help of two small animals to send a message to the maiden. First there was Claude Caterpillar. Claude didn’t mind helping maidens in distress, but he was still a crusty character.
