CHILI TIME

CHILI TIME—The good folks at Climate Control AC & Heating offered to make chili for the Rockdale Downtown Association’s Christmas Tree Lighting last Thursday. Attendees enjoyed 20 gallons of their homemade chili and ate all 20 gallons of it by 6:40 p.m.

Two soups to warm us all up

First off I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal and that you were stuffed and miserable afterwards and enjoyed your nap. The colder weather last week made me want something hot and filling and I think this mushroom soup would be just the thing. And it’s easy too and only uses one pot.

Recipes for corn casserole and herb-flavored potatoes

This is the classic Jiffy cornbread mix corn casserole, a perfect Thanksgiving side dish. The only difference is the added cheese. Normally there are only five ingredients. This one has cheese on top after it’s baked. But that is optional.

Green beans three ways

I have a kind of love/hate relationship with green bean casserole. I love it because it was one of Kathy’s favorite Thanksgiving sides and she normally made it for our gathering. So nice memories there, but I don’t love it. But I’ll eat it. I do purely love green beans though.

GAUSE NEWS

I called the school to see if they had any news and was told they didn’t have any. Everything must be running on schedule. Can you believe it will soon be time for Thanksgiving and then Christmas—then a New Year. Wow! Do you think the young children already have their Christmas wish list ready?

Vegetarian (or not) lunch or dinner

I ran across this recipe the other day and it sounds so good. This would be a good weeknight meal or something different to take to a covered dish dinner. The person who I got the recipe from said to make sure to use the hot sausage, not the regular. It just has better flavor.

Practice what you preach

I find myself in too many meetings (it’s what pastors do). Thomas Sowell said, “People who enjoy meetings should not be in charge of anything.” I’m not in that category. I don’t want to meet, I want to do (James 1:22). I wonder if we have too much Bible studying and not enough Bible doing?
