“The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry.” (Psalm 34:15) My hometown just lost a great saint. He died from the virus. From my perspective I don’t understand. It seems like we need every Jesus person working harder than ever during these end times.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open the second and fourth Thursday and Friday of the each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

Retirement celebration for Dr. D.L. Brooks Sr. New Jerusalem Inter-Denominational Church will hold a celebration for retiring pastor Dr. D. L. Brooks Sr. on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9-10, at the church. Dr. Brooks has served the church for 41 years.

In my family we don’t have any issues with salt, but I know there are a lot of you who do. Here’s a recipe for homemade ranch dressing mix using ingredients you probably already have at home except one.

Sunday our family members helped grandson Jaxon Hayles celebrate his birthday with lunch in Bryan. He is a special young man, as is all of our grandsons and our granddaughters. They are all available when we need them, when of course goes back to the parents and how they were taught.

SUNFLOWER FUN RUN/WALK— The Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship “Sunflower Fun Run/Walk” will be held Sept. 25 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. There is a kids’ one-mile color run at 9 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $30 for the 5K and $25 for the kids run.
