—And there were probably a few lucky enough to draw a full house during the evening Saturday as the Rockdale Rotary Club hosted its annual Casino Night at The Ranch. The event drew a packed crowd of players. It’s a major fund raiser each year for the Rock-dale organization.

MVFD chili supper set for February 15th

The Milano Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual chili supper on Feb. 15 at the fire department on Hwy. 79. Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m. until sold out. Chili, drink and dessert will cost $10 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under, with children age 3 and under eating for free.

Star Trek showing at Kay Theater on Saturday The Historic Kay theater will show the movie Star Trek (2009) at 7 p.m. Saturday. Admission and concessions will both be $1. Scholarship Jam offered at Taylor SPJST Central Texas Pickers will hold a scholarship jam session on Sunday, Feb. 9 from 4-8 p.m.

Lions pancake supper to be held Saturday

MILANO NEWS The annual Milano Evening Lions Club pancake supper is set for Saturday at the Milano Civic Center. Meal will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. and there will be live music, a silent auction and a raffle. Price is $3 for those under 13 and $5 for everyone else.

FRANKLIN—Eighty-two Rockdale Junior-High School students competed in recent University Interscholastic League academic contests for the 2019-20 term. Competition was held at Franklin with Rockdale, Cameron, Lexington and the host school participating. RJH finished third with 763 points.

Zinn on Dean’s List at Centenary College SHREVEPORT, LA—John Ryker Zinn of Rock-dale has been named to the Fall Dean’s List at Centenary College. That honors list includes students who achieved a grade-point average of 3.
