There are many verses in Scripture that refer to how God is good to us, especially troubled times. Philippians 4:19 says, “My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” God never gives us what He knows would harm us. His desire is for us to live.

Liberty Cemetery Association cancels annual meeting The annual Liberty Cemetery Association meeting scheduled for July 5, has been canceled for this year due to COVID-19. “The executive board thought for the safety of all, it was better to cancel,” according to Judy York, association secretary.

No July 4th parade, community meal this year

A reminder that there will be no celebration of the “stars and stripes” in our town this year. The Milano City Council decided to cancel the annual July 4th parade and community meal for this year. The event was the only one of its kind in the area.

Remember Saturday, Feb. 22? It turned out to be a big day in our community. The annual police-firefighter banquet at the KC Hall was the last face-toface gathering in the area until, well, when? Within a couple of weeks COVID-19 descended and mass gatherings were a thing of the past.

The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce honored Classic Bank as its Business-of-the-Month for May. The Chamber is playing “catch up” during June in publicizing its past awards due to inaction over the COVID-19 virus.

The Rockdale Police Department recently received a gift basket from Rockdale Walmart, part of the store’s community appreciation work. Police Lt. Stephen Goodrich accepted the gift at Walmart. It was presented by Melissa Dovalina (R), local store manager, and Walmart associate Terrace Mitchell.

Knights of Columbus Council 7014 has donated $250 to the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s annal drive to provide free fans during the summer for persons who need them, Charlie Watson of KC Council 7014 made the check presentation to Denise Brock, Chamber executive director.

Alcoa retirees cancel June meeting, set next meeting for September Due to current restrictions and health concerns, the June meeting of the Rockdale Alcoa Retirees has been canceled. “The next regularly scheduled meeting will be in September hopefully” according to Doug Williams, spokesman.
