Girl Scouts of Central Texas are celebrating the organization’s centennial, the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Girl Scout troop in the area in 1921. The Milam County Girl Scouts is performing various good works around Milam County. According to Rachel Owens, Milam County Girl Scouts Service Unit Director, scout members are going to do 100 acts of service in the county. Members are providing services for free to churches, organizations, cities, businesses or individuals. One of the deeds the scouts have performed so far this year was washing windows on the square in Cameron.

The 4-H Cloverbud Day Camp was held July 7 at the Youth Exposition Building. The Cloverbud kids are kindergarten through second-grade students. The 4-H teen leaders taught 4-H lessons in horse basics, goat tying and barrel racing. The day campers also did arts and crafts, and played games and had relays.
