Students, teachers parents ‘rise together’

Rockdale Elementary has had an amazing start to the year. It’s always a great feeling to begin a new school year, and this year we are especially excited.

Change is difficult

The Blonde (my wife Jennifer) got a crazy idea about a month ago to redecorate our bedroom. Can I share a little back story before I go on with the DIY project? I really started calling her the Blonde in high school before we had actually met.

Rising Star to celebrate 113 years on Sunday Rising Star Baptist Church will hold it’s annual anniversary a little differently this year. On Sunday, at 9:45 a.m. there will be a celebration on their Facebook page sharing pictures and memories.

BACK TO SCHOOL

All of Milam County’s school districts are now back in classes, both in-person and online. Milano ISD was the final one to get underway with a Thursday start. “It went very smoothly even with all the new procedures put in place.

4-H meetings: Masks, social distancing

The new 4-H year will start Tuesday. Our 4-H leaders are gearing up by making sure all families are safe during COVID 19. We are asking all 4-H families to wear masks and social distance at meetings. Meetings will take place where there is adequate space to social distance.

What virus? Area sales taxes rising

If the COVID-19-Pandemic year of 2020 is going to negatively impact Rockdale-area’s sales tax receipts, it’s going to have to be in the year’s final third. Sales tax receipts for Rockdale and the Rockdale Municipal Development District are up for the August distribution and the year.

Back to ‘normal’

The start of the 2020-2021 school year was anything but ‘normal’ Thursday, due to COVID-19, but you couldn’t have told it from the usual coming-to-school traffic coming up Childress Street in front of Rockdale High School.
