Fair sales bring in record-breaking $1M-plus to youth

The 2024 Rockdale Fair’s combined sales—to benefit Milam County 4-H and FFA youth—was a record-breaking $1,014,824.03, including a $559,174.03 livestock action. The commercial heifer sale was at $416,505, the baked good sales was $2,645 and ag mechanics brought in $16,500.

Oney Toy Run set for Dec. 7th

The 19th annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will be held on Saturday, December 7 with registration starting at 9 a.m. at The Ranch. This annual event raises money for several different organizations to provide Christmas presents for Milam County’s less fortunate children. The ride, which leaves at 11 a.m.

County, state, nation vote for Donald Trump

Milam County voters remained strongly Republican in Tuesday’s general election, with Donald Trump receiving 8,627 votes (78.30 percent) to 2,315 votes for Kamala Harris (21.01 percent). Ted Cruz received 8,286 Milam County votes (75.62 percent) to Colin Allred’s 2,447 votes (22.33 percent). U.S.

Two events Saturday support Thorndale Cares

Two Thorndale events on Saturday, Nov. 9, will raise money for Thorndale Cares as well as collecting canned goods. The day starts off with a Walk and Run of Love from 10 a.m. to noon. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 105 E. Church St. Big Auntie’s Sweet Potato pies will be auctioned off to raise funds.
