On Friday, the Rockdale High School senior Tigers posed at the I&GN Railroad Depot with the original bell in the annual Battle of the Bell with the Cameron Yoemen. Another senior Tiger, 90-year-old Charlie Watson, who graduated in 1951, got in on the fun wearing his original letter jacket.

Rockdale Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting last Wednesday for Advanced Pain Care which is located at Camrock Clinic, 602 N. Main St. President of the company is Dr. Mark Malone cutting the ribbon and in Rockdale the doctor will be Dr. J.M. Paterno.

Early voting bests total 2020 votes

Milam County early voting has been brisk and already over the 2020 totals including election day voting. As of Tuesday, 7,316 early votes have been cast in the county with early voting ending on Friday, Nov. 1. Election day voting is on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Rockdale Youth Football and Cheer will hold a chili fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 10 in the 7Bar BBQ Parking lot at 2006 Cameron Ave. Chili (cooked by the 7Bar BBQ staff), cheese, crackers and dessert will be $10. Sponsors are 7Bar BBQ, Alexander Farms, RTX Armory and Tiger Town Learning Center.

Springfield Baptist gets new pastor

Springf ield Baptist Church has a new pastor. The congregation welcomed Rev. Rodney Geter and First Lady Kelly about three weeks ago. Rev. Geter is originally from Orange but has been with Mt. Sinai Church in Austin as Associate Minister and the Music Ministry since 2010.

Nov. 4-8 is homecoming week

Homecoming week is Nov. 4-8. There is a different theme for each day. Please check with your student’s campus to get a list of all the fun and activities. FFA is still taking orders for homecoming mums. If you want to order one, you need to be quick about it.
