Why are jury trials so important?

I’ve received some questions about why it’s important to have jury trials, and as I’ve enjoyed going to court since I was at Baylor Law School, I’d like to discuss criminal trials here.

RPD makes two felony arrests during past week

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrests during the past week including: • Carmen Lopez Jr., 17, Rockdale, was arrested for sexual assault of a child and criminal mischief ($100 to $750).

MILAM COUNTY JAIL LOG

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. • Jeremy Johnson, 44, Rockdale, burglary of a building, in custody.

It was cloudy and dreary this Monday morning. That will not be the weather forecast in a few months. The Little River Basin Master Gardeners of Milam County will sponsor their spring plant sale and fundraiser from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. March 2 at the Milam County Expo Building in Cameron.

FRIDAY COFFEE

Members of the Rockdale Homecoming Association sponsored first Friday Coffee at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library for the month of February. The association has already announced that the 90th annual citywide homecoming will be held on June 9 at the Patterson civic Center.

Cut them some slack

Ihave a friend who is also a pastor. He loves Jesus a lot, but he is so hard to like. He is prideful, boastful and somewhat narcissistic. I know that sounds like a contradiction, but we all have our struggles, right? Every Christian is a struggling Christian.
