We had a new church member “meet and greet” at our house last week and one guy asked, “How do we know how we are doing as a church? What’s a healthy, mature church look like?” This guy is smart, and I like him a lot and I loved those questions. How does a church know how they are doing?

St. Paul’s barbecue fundraiser set Feb. 4 St. Paul Lutheran Church and School will hold their annual barbecue dinner and live auction on Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Thorndale Firemen’s Hall on North FM 486 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with dine-in or to-go plates available.

Drone show to kick off sesquicentennial

Kickoff of Rockdale’s 2024 Sesquicentennial celebration will be a drone show at Fair Park co-sponsored by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and the City of Rockdale on July 4. The sesquicentennial events run from July 4 through July 15.

Clarinetist Bluford makes ATSSB All-State Band

Destinee Bluford, sophomore clarinet player in the Big Blue Band, made it into the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB). Bluford will participate in the ATSSB All-State Clinic and Concert Feb. 7-10 in San Antonio in conjunction with the Texas Music Educators Association Convention.

Milam County Junior Engineer Club registration begins January 27th

The Milam County Junior Engineer Club will begin registration at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Milam County Railroad Museum, 110 W. First Street in Cameron. Junior engineers must bring a parent or guardian to register. This is a model railroad club for kids 10-18 years of age.
