The Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library will hold their “first” Friday coffee on the second Friday of the month. The Rockdale Earth Day organization will be the host, and they will have some Earth Day displays and refreshments The coffee will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Place of Hope fundraiser set for April 21st

The Place of Hope will celebrate their 11th anniversary by having a “Boots and Bling” fundraiser at 6 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Milam County Cowboy Church. The me it will be catered by Chris Kelm with desserts by Bake My Day Treats, Modern Thyme Catering and Goodies Baked Treats.

Lots of Easter fun at Patterson Civic Center

Cold, rainy weather caused a last-minute change to the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s annual Easter Egg Hunt which moved from Fair Park to inside the Patterson Civic Center. The children enjoyed games, face painting, all kinds of snacks and, of course, pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Downtown declared a ‘slum’ at council meeting

Monday night’s city council meeting held a surprise for many because they agreed to classify downtown Rockdale as a slum and blighted area. But don’t worry. This has been done before and for a good cause.

4-H teams place 4th, 5th in horse judging

O ur District 8 4-H Horse Judging Contest was held April 1 in College Station. We are very proud of our young teams. They won fourth and fifth place teams with Sloan Sanders placing ninth and Callie Morris placing 10th individually.
