Rockdale PD makes five felony arrests over past seven days

Rockdale Police Officers made five felony arrests during the past week including: • Larry Darnell White, 48, Rockdale was arrested on Tuesday by Ofc. Stephen Wall for possession of a controlled substance (4 grams to 200 grams) and resisting arrest.

Academic math team competes at regional

The academic math team competed in Corpus Christi at the regional contest. Congratulations, team! SOFTBALL— Milano girls’ softball team is now in the playoffs. Congratulations, girls!

St. John’s to hold mini-Vacation Bible School St. John’s United Methodist Church will conduct a mini-Vacation Bible School (VBS) beginning on Friday, May 6, open to all area children ages pre-K through 5th grades.

TISD superintendent resigns

THORNDALE—Adam Ivy has announced his resignation as superintendent of schools in T ho r nd a l e af ter seven years, and the school board will begin a search for his replacement.

Friday coffee

Friday Cof fee at the library drew a big crowd as Rockdale Earth Day was the host. Chairperson David Melton spoke about Earth Day events and a cake was served with this year’s t-shirt design winner’s entry.

City council, school board, bond races set

There are two expiring seats on the city council which will be voted on in the May 6 elections. Current mayor pro tem Lin Perry is running for his West ward seat unopposed.

Jubilee Days are back

Jubilee Days are back in Rockdale on May 5-6. They were restarted by the Rockdale Fair Association last year, but before that they had not been held since 2010. Tickets are $15 and there will be a lot going on. Seniors’ and children’s tickets are $10.

Bluegrass music at The Kay Theater

A bluegrass music performance by Karl Shiflett & Friends was held Saturday night at the historic Kay Theater benefiting the Milano Volunteer Fire Department.

POSGCD issues temporary permit amendment to Vista Ridge LLC

The POSGCD Board of Directors at their April 11 meeting approved issuance of a Temporary Permit Amendment to Vista Ridge LLC to increase production in the Simsboro aquifer while reducing an equal amount of production from the Carrizo aquifer.
